Tessie, Thomas and Ritmo Gitano – Khamoro Kicks Off Tonight with a Party at Výstaviště!
It’s here! The Khamoro Party at Výstaviště kicks off the 27th edition of Khamoro – the world’s largest Roma festival – tonight. From 7:30 p.m., you can look forward to live music that gets the audience up and dancing. Come and listen to the sweetheart of the young generation, Thomas, the dance rhythms of Ritmo Gitano, and the angelic voice of singer Tessie.
Tereza “Tessie” Ondičová is one of the most sought-after Roma singers in the Czech music scene. Raised in a family of musicians, she first stepped on stage at the age of thirteen. But it was about six years ago that she really rose to fame, dazzling audiences in the television singing competition The Voice. Ever since 2021, Tessie has been pursuing a solo career. Her songs like “But Barvali” and “Dukhal dukhal” are a must-have at any proper Roma celebration.
And no celebration would be complete without some traditional Roma sounds. At the Khamoro Party, that’s where the band Ritmo Gitano comes in! Gipsy rumba, flamenco, salsa, and classic Roma čardáš dances – this seven-piece Czech group blends all of these styles into their original music. Even though they’ve only been playing together for two years, they’ve already had a big impact. This group of fantastic musicians performs regularly at festivals all over the Czech Republic- and the audience loves them. Ritmo Gitano simply won’t let you stand still. Come experience it for yourself!
And if that’s still not enough, the Khamoro Party has one more ace up its sleeve – Thomas! He has one of the most original voices among the new generation of Roma singers. His music fuses R&B with heartfelt lyrics about love, joy, and real-life experiences. Thanks to his talent, Thomas has collaborated with stars of the contemporary music scene – including funk king Igor Kmeťo and well-known rapper Refew. Come experience a party at Khamoro with Thomas that you’ll never forget!
This year’s opening of the week-long celebration of Roma culture is truly something special – and you shouldn’t miss it. We can’t wait to see you – once again at Khamoro!
