One of Khamoro's Most Beloved Events! A Parade of Performers Will March Through the Heart of Prague Today

We are about to experience one of the most beloved events of the entire festival. The traditional defilé will fill the heart of Prague with a joyful celebration. The day will conclude with an evening concert of traditional Romani music at La Fabrika – a show well worth attending. Come dance, sing, and live!

BALKAN BRASS, CSÁRDÁS, AND FLAMENCO IN THE HEART OF PRAGUE

A horse-drawn carriage, dozens of Romani musicians, hundreds of dancers in traditional costumes, and thousands of bystanders who spontaneously join in – that’s the defilé! A parade full of untamed Balkan brass, traditional songs of Czech and Slovak Roma, Hungarian csárdás, and the rhythms of Spanish guitars. An incredible atmosphere, an unforgettable spectacle, starting at 12:00 from Wenceslas Square and ending at Old Town Square.

Nane čhave, nane bacht – no children, no happiness. That’s what we live by at Khamoro again this year. And of course, we haven’t forgotten the little ones! Starting at 3:00 PM, we’ve prepared a Children’s Day in Portheimka Park. The program includes sack races, face painting, braid styling, a magical fortune-telling tent, a photo booth, and much more! You can also look forward to several dance ensembles, singers Valerie Stojková and Veronika Horáková, and rapper Young Dee. And a special guest of the afternoon will be singer Jan Pohlodko.

VLAX TUNES AND RUSSIAN ROMANI SONGS AT LA FABRIKA

So what’s in store at La Fabrika? At 7:00 PM, we’re kicking things off with a bang! Once again, three Romani bands will get us dancing. Representing Hungary is the family band Karavan Familia, who masterfully blend traditional Vlax melodies with Latin, blues, and pop. The group was founded over twenty years ago by parents together with their children and has since toured all over Europe. If you enjoy deep, melancholic melodies or energetic Vlax rhythms, Karavan Familia from Hungary is a perfect pick for tonight.

The program continues with Diamant Tzigane from France. This ensemble, founded by the charismatic singer Žanna Dželakajeva – a descendant of a respected Moscow artistic dynasty – and Ukrainian musician Slava Mikhailyuk, brings an authentic Romani spirit to the stage, spiced with the elegance of Parisian cabarets.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT: EKREM MAMUTOVIĆ ORKESTAR

You might think nothing more can surprise you today – but the cherry on top will be the raw, unfiltered energy of Balkan brass performed by Ekrem Mamutović Orkestar. This ensemble is one of the most respected Romani brass bands not only in Serbia but worldwide. Ekrem is a proud heir of one of the oldest Romani musical families in the Balkans. He grew up with a trumpet in his hand and was already performing on stage with his family’s band at the age of twelve. It’s going to be unforgettable!

The event is held under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, Mgr. Martin Baxa, and the Government Commissioner for Roma Minority Affairs, Mgr. Lucie Fuková.
