VÍTEJTE NA STRÁNKÁCH SVĚTOVÉHO ROMSKÉHO FESTIVALU KHAMORO!

Prague will host the fourteenth year of the World Roma Festival KHAMORO, which has found its place among the most visited festivals in the Czech Republic. NGO Slovo 21 and Studio production Saga have been in charge of the festival organization since its first year in 1999. From the very beginning the KHAMORO festival was supported by many important personalities, such as Václav Havel, Petr Pithart, Libuše Benešová, Ramiro Cibrian and others.

This year of the KHAMORO festival starts on Sunday, just like the last year. We want to build on the innovation we came up with last year. We introduced a genuine reconstruction of the real traditional Roma wedding. This year of the festival our dear visitors are offered to enjoy the reconstruction of traditional Roma christenings!

Starting from Monday, you have the opportunity to visit one of the evening concerts – contemporary Roma music on Monday, concerts of Gypsy jazz on Tuesday and Wednesday, and concerts of traditional Roma music from Thursday to Saturday. The artists´ parade is annually held on Thursday afternoon – a colorful defile of participating bands in the historical center of Prague.

Of course the festival this year will not miss the accompanying program. And trust us, you really have a plenty of things to look forward to! You can see, for example, the most unique fashion show exclusively prepared for the festival KHAMORO by a well – known designer of Cuban origin Osmany Laffita! Other interesting events are the two exhibitions, which are organized in cooperation with the Museum of Romany culture.

The following Roma bands will perform during the festival this year: Mec Yek/ Belgium, Sonnekai / Germany, Netherlands, Fapy Lafertin / Belgium-Netherlands, Cindži Renta / Czech Republic, Urs Karpatz Gypsy Band / France, Kocani Orkestar / Macedonia-Belgium, Nikolay Verbitsky grou / Russia, Romathan / Slovakia, Stevan Familić / Serbia, Carmen Fenandez / Spain.
