Yorgui Loeffler (France)

Coming from Haguenau, Yorgui Loeffler is considered as one of the most talented gypsy guitarist in Alsace. Hardworking, he built himself a real musical personality based on Django Reinhardt´s heritage and completed with diverse influences. His style is not only a masterly imitation of the most famous musicians as Tchavolo Schmitt, Bireli Lagrene or Stochelo Rosenberg, because Yorgui Loeffler has developed his own specific phrasé: precise and fast it has become a real "brand".
He began playing classic guitar at the age of 14, and he discovered the music of Django while accompanying his brother Gigi who passed him soon on his soloist role. He improved himself then autodidacticly as most of gypsy musicians do, and he formed his trio in 1998 (with his brother Gigi at the rhythm guitar and his cousin Gino Roman at the electric bass). His band, which soon became a quartet with the pianist Vincent Bidal, had at first a lot of success at the International Tsigane Festival of Strasbourg in 1999. His first CD "For Magnio" was released under the Label "Brisez la Glace" in 2002.
